Lua

Oh hey.

A note on food today. I absolutely love food. I love smelling it, I love looking at it, I love creating it. And, like most foodies, I love eating.  Eating is one of those things that simply gives me a rush - especially when I'm eating well. But, I realize, I also seem to have developed a dependence on cheap quality food. The chocolates, the pizza, the pop. I wasn't quite as accutely aware of my dependence on such things until I decided to quit eating those things for a year.

A note to all of you planning to do such a thing: don't eat all of your favorite junk foods the day before going on such an expedition. The sugar crash is so awful for the next few days that it isn't even worth it. I had developed a splitting headache for the first day, I was out of focus, my muscles were sore.

Oh yes. It was that bad.

I realized that a lack of bad food lead to me becoming hungrier. Now normally I did not eat until about 5:30, and that's when I had dinner. A few cups of tea in between sufficed. Later I would indulge in beautiful masterpieces (I can't even call them food) - but now.... breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All small meals, granted, but still. It's a change.

I'm slowly snapping out of my dependence - and this is what I have come to realize. First of all, Eggs Benedict with jalapeño peppers tastes amazing. Honestly. Go and make some right now.  You will be so happy - words cannot even begin to describe my euphoria at such a heavenly combination. Second of all, I have been finding that I am less tired when I eat wholesome foods. And last of all - everything has regained favor with me! Even the dreaded oatmeal, which is quite spectacular in my circumstance.

And so, I leave you today with a mission. Go make some wholesome food. Preferably Eggs Benedict with jalapeño peppers. You won't regret it.
